Basic Concepts offers infant massage instruction for parents or primary caregivers of infants (birth to twelve months). The ideal age for massage is approximately three months, but it is never too early or late to participate. Infant massage is appropriate for all infants including infants with special needs. Infant massage is a relaxing way to bond with your infant. Infant massage provides the following benefits and more:
  • Promotes bonding and attachment between the infant and caregiver
  • Enhances myelination of the brain/nervous system
  • Improves muscle tone and circulation
  • Relieves discomfort from gas and colic, teething, reflux, congestion, and stress
  • Improves digestion
  • Helps the infant to sleep deeper and longer
  • Enhances neurological development
  • Stimulates physiological systems and improves sensory awareness
  • Reinforces parenting skills
  • Increases early communication skills
Basic Concepts offers both group classes and private sessions. Infant massage can be incorporated into existing parenting or 'mommy and me' groups. It is also a perfect gift for moms to be or new moms. Infant massage instruction can be done in our office or in a location of your choice.
